Ambar Mitra brings a strong technical background to his position as president of Actus Potentia Inc., a company in Ames, Iowa, that develops highly innovative problem-solving tools for business and industrial applications and educational software for use by students of science, mathematics and engineering.
In this role, Dr. Mitra manages day-to-day operations and oversees product development efforts. In addition to approving user interfaces and front-end design concepts, he researches corresponding test cases and works with Actus Potentia staff to assess marketplace applicability.
Along with his work with Actus Potentia, Dr. Mitra has served for 28 years as an associate professor of aerospace engineering at Iowa State University. Known for his research in computational mechanics, expert learning systems and numerical design methods, Dr. Mitra has garnered four outstanding professor awards from the university.
Dr. Mitra is a member of organizations such as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the American Society for Engineering Education. Dr. Mitra holds a Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India, and an undergraduate degree from Jadavpur University.
